Most recently, Jay has been involved in the following:

Fitchburg Days Committee. Jay has been a member of the Fitchburg Days Committee for over 12 years, being the Logistics committee chair for most of those. He was elected Vice President for the 2005 and 2006 festivals, and has been the President since 2007. In addition, Jay's business, Appliance Pros, has been a Claddagh Level Sponsor of Fitchburg Days for many years.

Earth Day Cleanup. Jay has participated in the East Fitchburg Neighborhood Earth Day Cleanup, as well as the City Hall Earth Day Cleanup at different times over the last 12 years.

Meriter Hospital Volunteer. Jay is one of the facilitators for the Boot Camp for New Dads sessions that the hospital provides.

Kids Crossing Playground. Appliance Pros was one of the founding contributors to the Kid's Crossing Playground, and Jay participated in two of the construction days.

Spark for the Fitchburg Library. Jay contributed to the Spark for the Fitchburg Library fund to provide taxpayers will as much information as possible before the library went to referendum. Jay was the first elected official to contribute to the library. Having accurate information about such a large project is critical, and he is committed to making sure that Fitchburg residents have the information they need to make informed decisions.

Fitchburg Police Canine Unit. Jay's business, Appliance Pros, contributed to the fundraising campaign to make the canine unit a reality.

Memorial Day Ceremony. Each year, Jay works with an ad hoc committee to organize our annual Memorial Day Program. In that context, he locates and works with a guest speaker, sets up the sound equipment, and assists in arranging musical guests. The ceremony is held at the Gorman Wayside.
